We recommend different layer height for different nozzle sizes (Maximum layer height: nozzle size x 0.8, Minimum layer height: nozzle size / 4)
- For 0.8 mm nozzle: 0.6 mm – 0.2 mm – Lower details, but faster prints
- For 0.6 mm nozzle: 0.45 mm – 0.15 mm
- For 0.4 mm nozzle: 0.3 mm – 0.1 mm – Ideal for most of the prints
- For 0.25 mm nozzle: 0.2mm – 0.05mm – Higher details, but slower prints
You can change the layer height depending on what quality/time period you wish to print with. For PLA and ABS, 100 microns/layer is optimal based on the characteristics of the materials; you can print with a lower layer height to try and achieve a better detail, but like I said, based on the characteristics it doesn’t make much sense below 100 with a 0.4mm nozzle. Most people print using 200 microns/layer with great visual results. If you want a quick model, you can select a larger nozzle size and a less detailed layer height.
