Upgraded base unit for the PrintDry PRO and PRO3 filament dryers, featuring real-time humidity monitoring, six temperature presets and a 48-hour timer for controlled 3D printer filament drying.
The PrintDry Filament Dryer PRO4 Base Unit is an upgrade component designed for existing PrintDry PRO and PRO3 owners. It brings the latest PRO4 base-unit features to compatible existing PrintDry dryer setups.
The upgraded system introduces real-time humidity monitoring alongside six selectable drying temperatures and a timer of up to 48 hours, giving users greater control when preparing filament for 3D printing.
The PRO4 base unit features an integrated humidity sensor that displays relative humidity from below 15% through to 99%. This allows users to monitor changes in the drying environment as the filament drying cycle progresses.
PrintDry's testing reports that chamber humidity can fall from above 60% to below 15% in under five minutes under its stated test conditions. Actual drying performance will vary according to filament type, moisture content and environmental conditions.
The PRO4 provides six preset temperature settings: 35°C, 45°C, 55°C, 65°C, 75°C and 85°C. These settings cover the drying requirements of a wide range of common 3D printing materials.
PrintDry provides recommended drying temperatures and times for materials including PLA, ABS, PETG/CPE, Nylon, PVA, TPU/TPE, ASA, PP, HIPS, PC and PEEK.
The PrintDry system can feed 1.75mm or 3mm filament directly from the dryer to a compatible 3D printer while the filament continues to dry.
This is particularly useful for moisture-sensitive materials and longer printing jobs where maintaining filament in a controlled drying environment during printing can be beneficial.
The PRO4 regulates temperature using a closed-loop system. When the measured temperature rises above the selected preset, the heating unit switches off. When the temperature falls below the preset, the heating unit switches back on.
PrintDry notes that temperature distribution within the dryer is not uniform. The temperature is higher near the hot air vent and lower further away from it, so the displayed temperature should not be treated as the temperature at every point inside the chamber.
This product is supplied as a base-unit upgrade rather than a complete filament dryer. Existing PRO and PRO3 owners can use the PRO4 base unit with the appropriate compatible components from their existing dryer setup.
PrintDry's recommendations are based on stated test conditions including 50% ambient relative humidity, 20°C ambient temperature and a 500g filament spool. Actual drying times vary according to filament composition, initial moisture content and environmental conditions.
Important: This is the PRO4 base unit only. The complete PRO4 dryer chamber, trays, shafts, spool adapters and other components are not included unless specifically stated by the seller.
PrintDry states that its filament dryer range has been independently tested by Intertek and TÜV to meet applicable product safety standards in North America and Europe. The PrintDry filament dryer is ETL and TÜV Rheinland GS listed.
