Vacuum storage solution for 3D printer filament, designed to help protect spools from moisture absorption and maintain dry storage between prints.
Many 3D printing filaments can absorb moisture from the surrounding air, which can negatively affect printing performance. The PrintDry Vacuum Sealed Filament Container provides a sealed storage environment designed to help prevent moisture in the air from reaching your filament.
The set contains five reusable vacuum-sealed filament containers, making it suitable for organising and storing multiple spools after opening or drying. Filament spools are not included.
The included rechargeable electric pump makes creating a vacuum seal quick and straightforward. Place the pump over the vacuum valve and press the start button. The pump automatically stops when the preset vacuum level is reached, or it can be stopped manually.
PrintDry states that the pump can reduce the internal pressure to approximately -30kPa within 40 seconds. The controlled vacuum level is designed to provide a more consistent seal than manual pumping.
The lid incorporates a visual vacuum indicator. When the container is fully vacuum sealed, the centre of the vacuum valve collapses inward from its original dome shape, providing a simple way to check the seal.
Each container has an overall diameter of 265mm and a height of 115mm. The maximum stated filament spool size is 205mm in diameter and 85mm in height, making the containers suitable for many standard 1kg filament spools.
The electric pump uses a 1200mAh lithium battery and can be recharged using USB Type-C at 5V DC and 1A. PrintDry states that one charge can last approximately 1–2 months under normal use.
Each container includes five 15g desiccant pouches. Using desiccant alongside the vacuum seal provides an additional method of reducing moisture inside the storage container.
PrintDry's testing includes a 750g filament spool stored inside a vacuum container for 30 days while monitoring relative humidity inside and outside the container. For continued use, PrintDry recommends releasing and reapplying the vacuum at least once a month to help prevent the container base from buckling.
Note: Filament spools are not included.
